Sue Sansome trained in Fashion and Design at the Leicester College of Art and worked as a costume designer in the theatre. She paint portraits and the figure, often including the subject in an interior combining an arrangement of textiles, props and costumes. Oils, pastels, and charcoal are favourite media, sometimes developing into silk screen.
"I am fascinated by the juxtaposition of the figure combined with the composition of setting and fabrics. My main sources of inspiration being Degas for his observations on reflected colour and Matisse's eye for pattern and colour"
Sue accepts commissions and has exhibited at Royal Portrait Society, Royal West of England and the Pastel Society. She is a Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
