Pink Carnation - linocut
The Blue Sunhat - linocut
Up on the Hill - linocut
Using my own family as inspiration for some of my linocuts, I capture those incidental, intimate everyday moments of life, which so often go unnoticed and unappreciated.
Patterns seen within the landscape, both urban and rural, I simplify into blocks of colour and line, giving form to the rhythms of place, creating clean, spacious compositions with dynamic statements of colour.
The bold and decorative nature of linocut challenges me to simplify still-life, to find the essence of the image and the very core of my work, to create a clean, uncluttered linocut, somewhere between abstraction and representation.
