Open Secret present an exhibition of work made in response to Jeanette Winterson’s autobiography “Why be Happy When You Could be Normal?”
The artists' individual responses, give credence to the author’s own words when she says “no two people will tell a story in the same way”. Working in a variety of media some of our artists have taken phrases or descriptions used in the book and reworked these symbolically. Others show how a piece of literature can inspire empowerment and liberation, prompt the creative expression of emotions, or evoke childhood memories.
